How to Set Parental Controls for Multiple Kids on One Smart TV

Managing screen time for multiple children on the same Smart TV? Cylux supports individual profiles so each child gets their own limits and monitoring.

The Multiple Kids Problem

When multiple children share a Smart TV, one set of rules doesn't work — an 8-year-old and a 13-year-old have very different appropriate screen times and content levels. Cylux handles this with individual child profiles, each with their own limits, content restrictions, and monitoring.

Setting Up Multiple Child Profiles

  1. In the Cylux parent app, tap Add Child for each of your children.
  2. Enter their name and age.
  3. Assign the Smart TV as a shared device — each child profile can be linked to the same Smart TV.

When your child picks up the remote, they select their profile on the Cylux lock screen. Each profile then has its own daily limit counter and content settings active.

Per-Child Content Settings

  • Child 1 (age 8): 1.5 hours/day, content locked to PG, YouTube blocked, bedtime 8 PM
  • Child 2 (age 13): 2.5 hours/day, PG-13 content allowed, YouTube allowed with 30-min limit, bedtime 9:30 PM

Each child sees their own lock screen with their remaining time when the TV is accessed.

Switching Between Profiles

Profile switching can be locked with individual PINs so children can't select each other's profiles and use their sibling's remaining time. Each profile has its own PIN or fingerprint verification.

Shared Device, Individual Accountability

One of Cylux's biggest advantages for families with multiple children is that the activity log is per-profile — you can see what each child individually watched, not a merged history. When you open the weekly report, you see separate timelines for each child.

Managing Multiple Phones Too

If each child also has their own phone, Cylux manages all devices across all children from one parent app. The same profiles that manage the shared Smart TV also link to each child's individual phone.

Plans for Multiple Children

  • Basic ($4.99/month): 1 child profile
  • Pro ($10.99/month): Up to 3 children
