How to Block TikTok on Your Kids' Devices (Phone, Tablet, and TV)

Why Block TikTok?

TikTok is not appropriate for children under 13 under any circumstances (it violates COPPA and TikTok's own terms). For children 13–15, strictly limited access is appropriate. For 16+, monitored access with time limits. Blocking TikTok with a proper app blocker for kids is often the right call for younger children.

Blocking TikTok on Android with Cylux

1. Open Cylux parent app → your child's Android phone profile.
2. Tap App Controls.
3. Find TikTok in the list (search if needed).
4. Toggle to Blocked.

TikTok will show a Cylux lock screen when opened. Your child cannot unblock it without your parent PIN.

Blocking TikTok on iPhone

1. Go to Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions → Allowed Apps.
2. Disable TikTok from the allowed list.
3. Alternatively, use Screen Time → App Limits → Social Networking → Set Limit to 1 minute (effectively blocking it).

For stronger enforcement that a determined teen can't bypass, also install Cylux iOS child app and use its app controls.

Blocking TikTok on Smart TV

1. In Cylux parent app → Smart TV profile → App Controls.
2. Find TikTok and toggle to Blocked.

TikTok will show a lock screen on the Smart TV.

Preventing TikTok Reinstallation on Android

Enable Cylux's App Approval Mode — any newly installed app is automatically blocked until you approve it. Even if your child uninstalls and reinstalls TikTok, it won't work without your approval.

What If They Use TikTok on a Friend's Device?

You can't control devices you don't own. What you can do:

• Have an honest conversation about why TikTok is restricted
• Build a relationship where your child feels comfortable telling you about their online experiences
• Consider allowing limited, monitored TikTok access at home so the "forbidden fruit" appeal is reduced
